Jason Lanier: Gift Culture and "Digital Peasants"

Great Article, I have not often stopped to consider the negative aspects of open-source culture. Although I have always felt ambivalent towards outright piracy I often had considered the zietgiest of open-source culture to be a boon, feeling that the whole could achieve feats greater than the individual. This articles framing of the digital "peasantry" though has given me much to think about. As Lars put it, it really is all about control.
